  • The Brag.tv website launch

    Posted on: 02/05/12

We are happy to announce that the new much anticipated Brag website has now been launched and is live.

    What is the Brag ?

THEBRAG.tv has been developed and funded by Safe in Tees Valley Ltd, a registered charity and ‘not for profit’ organisation that works primarily in the local authority areas of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Darlington.

The idea was to establish a resource for 16-21 year olds drawing together social media and web based opportunities to make the most of the talents, ambitions and opportunities that we see all around us in the Tees Valley.

We’ve made a start and put up information and communication opportunities you have told us you want – but this is just the beginning. We need your help to source the news that matters, the gigs not to be missed, the fashion that must be seen and the offers and competitions that appeal to you.

Our pages need filling with your photos, DVDs of your band, poetry or dance and if you’re not a performer maybe you can recognise class when you see it.  Why not write a review of the latest film, album sports match, TV show… there is no limit so get in touch and join the team.

If it’s happening in the Tees Valley we want to hear about it – start bragging today

The Brag.tv gives the user a very unique opportunity to upload there own news/articles & reviews giving them full ownership to the site & been able to Brag to their friends about any given subject they require.

What you waiting for head over to  http://www.thebrag.tv/

  • Students praised for Safe in Tees Valley bullying DVD

    Posted on: 02/05/12

St Hild’s students with Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond.

STUDENTS have been recognised for their work in helping to tackle bullying after making a hard-hitting DVD that has been seen by over 1,000 young people.

Teenagers from the Be Safe and Happy group based at St Hild’s School in Hartlepool worked with the Safe in Tees Valley media team to produce script &  and star in the film which has been shown in every secondary school in town.

Based on a real-life story it shows how teasing can quickly develop into physical assault and encourages youngsters to report incidents.

The group was presented with certificates by town mayor Stuart Drummond at a celebration event for the Young Victims Steering Group which the students are part of.

Peter Lowe, steering group co-ordinator, said: “Bullying really does blight children’s lives and ripples across the whole community and to families.

“Young people are often seen as the cause of crime and anti-social behaviour, but they are more likely to be victims and less likely to report it.

“The DVD has reached over 1,000 people from all the secondary schools in Hartlepool.

“Young people often get a bad rap, but I think this shows that young people are doing really positive things and trying to make things better.”

The event at St Hild’s, King Oswy Drive, was held to celebrate the work of the Young Victims Steering Group since it formed two years ago.

It also looked ahead to new projects including the creation of an anti-bullying toolkit for primary schools which will include the DVD.

Mr Lowe added: “We know from the workshops that people feel safer and more confident in reporting bullying.

“If we can take that to primary schools and get to children at a young age and get them involved in things that’s going to safeguard them into adulthood it can only be a good thing.”

The victims group is supported by members of the Safer Hartlepool Partnership, Children’s Society in Billingham, Barnardos, police and Victim Support.
