Workforce Development Plan
There is a statutory requirement for the partnership to ensure that the people working on their behalf have the appropriate skills and knowledge to carry out their role (see L1). We have not prescribed how this shall be done, leaving it to local circumstances, but the partnership has to have the capacity and capability to ensure successful delivery of its priorities
To do so, the strategy group might consider developing and implementing a robust Workforce Development Framework in order to respond to the dynamic training needs of the partnership. Some of the critical components of a robust framework include:
- Job descriptions defined by the National Occupational Standards designed by Skills for Justice.
- Recruitment and selection using valid job descriptions.
- Development programmes offering opportunities to build skills and knowledge.
- Awards that can be directly linked to the National Occupational Standards.
- Workplace assessment during day-to-day tasks and formal performance review arrangements.
- Personal development records.
- Continuous professional development.
