A Fairer Start...
Catalyst, Hartlepool & Stockton-On-Tees Clinical Commissioning Group, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, and the Voluntary Sector have agreed to work together to undertake a project that will address the needs of 0-3 year olds to give them a fairer start in life. There is overwhelming evidence that the first few years of life build the foundations for future health and wellbeing and the partnership believe that a preventative approach together with system changes in local agencies can improve the life chances of babies and children.
A Fairer Start is a new initiative to improve the life chances of babies, children and families living in areas of deprivation by empowering people to raise healthy, happy and productive children. It builds on the current community, services and resources to ensure the better life chances of 0-3year olds living in the Stockton Town Centre ward.
Community engagement will play a big role in designing and putting the initiative into action. As a new Synergy member, Safe in Tees Valley will be working with Synergy members and partners Bridges; The Corner House; Mind; Cultures; and Thirteen Group, to engage people living in Stockton Town Centre in initial intelligence gathering and consultation.
12 Stockton young people have this week begun 'A Fairer Start Community Reporter' training. As Community Reporters they will use social media as a community engagement tool and to give people and communities 'A Fairer Start' voice.
