100 young people across England test new Youth Social Action app...
Having pledged our support to the Step Up To Serve #iwill campaign which is committed to doubling the number of young people engaged in social action by 2020; Safe in Tees Valley and UK Youth have worked together to develop a Youth Social Action app that will give young people aged 16+ the tips, techniques and tools to lead multiple youth social action projects.
The app embeds the campaign quality framework for youth social action and features the definition, principles, and 'double benefit' outcome framework.
Young people can make their social action journey through the app INSPIRE, ACT and CHANGE zones to develop their individual skills at bronze silver and gold levels as they take practical action in the service of others; creating and measuring positive social change of benefit to young people and the community. The app syncs with social networking so that users can stay connected, share information, and showcase their achievements.
The app will be tested by 100 young people across England during December 2014 and January 2015; and will be available in Apple/Android stores from March 2015. The app features a feedback facility so that young people can inform the apps development.
The Youth Social Action app was created by Safe in Tees Valley in partnership with UK Youth. It was funded through the Cabinet Office Youth Social Action Journey Fund.
