Cadets Action Up at Saltburn Valley Gardens...

Posted : 20/05/2015

Cleveland Police Cadet Action Up participants have used their new skills to benefit Saltburn Valley Gardens; a beautiful recreational area on the North Yorkshire Coast.

The Valley Gardens sadly fell victim to vandals who damaged flower beds and fixtures. Upon hearing the news, Redcar & Cleveland Cadets ‘actioned up’ to help their local community; spending an enjoyable evening removing debris, weeding, and planting newly purchased flowers as part of their Action Up social action project.

“It was great to see these young people working hard on the gardens last night when we went for a walk. Well done, the area looked lovely”

“Just shows you that not all teenagers are sat on a corner causing problems and involved in anti-social behaviour...people only seen the small minority causing a nuisance, and this clearly shows that there are a lot of good kids out there... not forgetting those who help steer them behind the scenes giving their own time up just like the teens. Well done all”.

“Well done guys brilliant job”!

The Saltburn Friends of the Valley are a charitable organisation, who help maintain and improve the area for residents and visitors alike.

Action Up is a leadership programme to increase the number of young people engaged in high quality social action. It is led nationally by Ambition and locally by Safe in Tees Valley. The programme is funded by the Cabinet Office Youth Social Action Journey Fund.
