NCS Grads raise funds for Meningitis Now

Posted : 23/03/2018

NCS Action Day took place on Saturday 17th March where hundreds of NCS graduates across the Country volunteered their time to benefit their local community.

Safe in Tees Valley's Grads decided to raise funds and awareness for Meningitis Now due to a close friend of theirs losing his life last year to this awful disease. They have worked so hard since January on this, meeting up every week to plan and deliver a family fun event in the Darlington Market Square. Due to the severe weather conditions the event was moved indoors with limited space and therefore didn't go ahead as originally planned but that didn't stop them! They pulled off an amazing event with a few tweaks and through their hard work, determination, energy and passion for this project, they raised over 217 for Meningitis Now. But it didn't stop there! They have collected in so many gifts, donated by their generous friends and family members, they are planning to hold an additional tombola stall in the next couple of weeks to raise even more funds and awareness.

Lorraine Nevison, NCS Graduate Coordinator said "I am so proud of them all. They have so much going on right now with college, exams, home life and other pressures yet they have been so reliable and resilient and this event would have not taken place without them. I have therefore nominated them all for an Exceptional Young Volunteer award with the Best of Darlington to show how much they are appreciated."
