SITV welcomes the 'Boro Angels'Posted : 22/01/2010
Caring volunteers are hitting the streets of Middlesbrough to protect vulnerable revellers. The 'Boro Angels' will patrol the streets of the town on Saturdays providing a caring presence between the hours of 10pm and 3am. The teams will be armed with first aid kits, blankets, lollipops and even disposable flip-flops to give out to people who have lost their shoes. They will also direct people to taxis and call relatives for those who find themselves disorientated or lost. The Angels - supported by the Safer Middlesbrough Partnership and Safe in Tees Valley - have had full training and CRB checks and will work closely with Cleveland Police, Middlesbrough Council, the emergency services and late night businesses. |
