Young people on Teesside will be making music with a new project thanks to a grantof almost £200,000 awarded by charity Youth Music to Middlesbrough Council's ArtsDevelopment Team. Safe in Tees Valley is a member of the Youth Music Inclusion ProjectAdvisory Group.

Grant funding will be used to develop and deliver musinc a 'Musical Inclusion' projectfor young people aged between 10-18 in challenging circumstances in Middlesbrough,Stockton, Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland. The Project will be working closely with a rangeof local partners and young people to achieve this.

Musinc has been launched @ myplace, Middlesbrough. The event offered a chance to findout more about the project, to choose from and take part in a selection of micro workshopsessions, careers and funding advice, and an opportunity to promote music making.

Safe in Tees Valley delivered music making workshops at the event on-board their OnRouteMedia bus, a state-of-the-art digital media facility. Workshops enabled local youngpeople and practitioners to explore the challenging circumstances that young people findthemselves in in their everyday lives through a range of hands-on music based activityincluding lyrics/ song and music production e.g. rap attack, jamming ... and much more!

Young Graduates of National Citizen Service Summer 2012 led musinc launch eventevaluation activity on behalf of Middlesbrough Council's Arts Development Team, and tookpart in music sessions.
