National Numeracy Challenge

Posted : 01/08/2013

Would you like to take part in a pilot to test a major new project aiming to reduce the number of adults with low levels of numeracy by 1 million in the next 5 years?

National Numeracy (www.nationalnumeracy.org.uk), a relatively new charity, are currently piloting their National Numeracy Challenge. This initiative will encourage individuals to raise their numeracy skills to at least the minimum standard necessary for everyday life. It also wants to see a change in negative attitudes to maths.

Ambition is supporting National Numeracy in piloting this initiative, which runs until 16th August. As an Ambition member,Safe in Tees Valley invite their local members and partner employees and adult service users to test the National Numeracy Challenge.

Within the Challenge there’s an online programme that assesses current skills, sets achievable goals, supports learning with the best available online resources, and monitors progress, whilst improving knowledge and confidence along the way. Take a look at http://www.nationalnumeracy.org.uk/userfiles/Documents/Challenge_Booklet_v1.pdf.

The experience of Ambition members will be helpful in developing the Challenge for roll-out later in the year and National Numeracy will really value your feedback. Taking part will give you a sneak preview before mainstream roll-out later in 2013 too.

The Challenge can be accessed at www.nnchallenge.org.uk/ambition just click GET STARTED, the unique Ambition access code has already been entered.

Feedback will be coordinated directly with National Numeracy after taking the Challenge.
